I know I haven’t posted much lately. Life is so hard. I have so many posts that have been started, but were never finished and published. I have an idea of how to post more regularly in my crazy life. I have decided to start a section of my blog that is dedicated to quotes. I love quotes. They are small pieces of a work which can be profound, poetic, or funny. They also can be extremely short. My literature teacher is very supportive of her students keeping track of quotes. So I am going to post various quotes here and there and write about why I like it. Here is my first quote:
“Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none.” (William Shakespeare).
I feel like this quote is very self explanatory, even for people in the 21st century. Anyone who knows me wouldn’t be surprised that I chose a Shakespeare quote as my first quote in this section of my blog. I have a reputation as someone who loves Shakespeare. People whom I barely know me seem to know about it.
I found this quote online when I was googling. Although there is a good chance I’ve read it before, I feel like this is a very profound quote. It is even fairly biblical. We are supposed to love and be kind to everyone. I also like the part about “trust a few.” If you’re friendly enough to me, I would probably end up sharing a lot of things with you, but that isn’t necessarily a good thing. I have a lot of friends, and I will talk with many different people about many different topics, but I have a few people who end up knowing a lot more about my life than everyone else does. Sometimes I can be too trusting, but if I don’t truly know the person, it would be wiser to just have general conversations with the person. If all else fails, I’ll bring up my Shakespeare obsession. 🙂
